When I try to join a public server, i usually play in the Hive MC, it keeps going good until it says locating server but after that suddenly the loading stops and says disconnected from server and the game crashes. Sometimes it also says that i couldn't access the server because im using a vpn, but i never used a vpn or downloaded it for even once.

Unfortunately we don't accept issues related to External Servers here on the bug tracker, but please add more details if you think this also affects multiplayer over Realms, LAN, or XBL.
I'd suggest contacting the server owner directly or seeking help on the Minecraft forums.
