I have put the query.is_using_item and in my custom item I have minecraft: on_use and it does not work basically, but when I put the minecraft: food component the query if it detects it when I use my item, but the minecraft: food has another bug that already I previously reported and basically that is it

Yes, I have the same issue, when using the "q.is_using_item" it will not detect if we use the component on_use in our custom item. It's still an issue in the 1.17.40 update. If this would be fixed it would be fabulous!

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.
Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.
