When you throw an ender pearl at a portal with another one adjacent/behind it, it it will teleport you to a random spot in the nether, when I did it in the nether it teleported me about 800 blocks away from where I last was. the same thing happens when in the overworld, where it will teleport you somewhere in the overworld.
