Items that can be smelted are sometimes not in the furnace when in your inventory

When an item is able to be smelted or coocked (first slot/highest slot) and is in your inventory, it sometimes doesn't show up in the space where you can choose what to smelt. This may have affected 0.12.1, but I'm not sure.
