The preview screens of my Minecraft worlds have disappeared for the worlds I have opened since getting the update. And when I join my son's world as a secondary character, I lost all my experience and inventory. Very frustrating. I tried restarting a about a dozen times over the course of a 24 hour period and it never came back. Updated my controller and also removed my profile from the console and reinstated it. Nothing worked. I had this happen often some months ago but my character always came back with his inventory/experience. This time it didn't work. Happened right after the update installed for minecraft. We play on the same xbox console (1s) in the same room together. It is stopping to be fun when you lose important items that took months to acquire and much experience acquired to boost. Minecraft really should fix this if they don't want to loose members.

Have you tried getting your son to send you an invite? I had the same issue, sent invite, accepted it and now we can both log in and inventory seems to be saved. We lost out inventory too. Also check one of you isn't on beta and the other on normal vanilla. If you are both on the same version it can help.
