When a shield is activated and an explosion happened, the player will only get knocked back which is intended but the shield does not take durability loss.
Way to reproduce
Place a command block then set it to repeat and enter a command that summon explosives(End Crystals are more preferable where it can knock back players further)
Activate your shield
make the explosive explode(if it is TNT, no need)
Expected Result: The Player will get knocked back and the shield will take durability loss
Observed Result: The player is still knocked back but the shield does not take durability loss

The shield also has no animation when blocking explosions, and for me explosions don't inflict knockback when blocked
