my friend recently got minecraft on ps4 and i play minecraft on my ipad,so we decided to play together.and i got their gamer tag but when i put it in the add friends bar in the game it said gamer tag not found i checked if i got it right,i did,but i couldn't find them still.and i kept trying but it still said gamer tag not found...Please Help.

This also happened to me on mobile, from what I know, this is very hard to fix, I'm not sure what I did, but I think it had something to do with a microsoft account issue or different versions, because, and I might be wrong on this, I don't think that ps4 and pe can join. I know ps4 is stupid in being the only version requiring a payment to play online
