Usually when directing a one tick pulse into a sticky piston it will eject the block. This is useful for piston doors and flying machines, I've gone through all 1 tick systems known to me and it keeps retracting the block even though it really shouldn't. I've even used command blocks that places a redstone block before deleting it 1 tick later just to make sure I haven't done my redstone incorrectly.
