Grass appears to be different colors.

I was having fun in a creative world of mine (with TNT might I add), when I noticed a weird colorful patch. I flew to it, and noticed these grass blocks. Now, when other blocks are placed upon it, nothing happens. However if you were to place a grass block, small grass, or tall grass, on a colorful piece as shown in the picture, it matches up with the color grass below it.
