Lanterns still do not attatch to blocks like before.
You can hang them over you. but not mount them in the side of a block.
lanterns used to be able to mount on to blocks in the 1.15.1 beta.
Now you cant still.
You can hang them or place them.
You cant mount them any more.

Lanterns have never been able to be attached to the sides of blocks. This is working as intended per https://twitter.com/JasperBoerstra/status/1125324309524885504
