So I've spent the last week researching and troubleshooting villager and Iron golem Mechanics. The rules for Bedrock Iron golem spawning is extremely problematic. I understand the number of beds, the number of villagers, 75% of villagers having to work, etc. the problem is with the movement of the village center and villagers not staying linked to beds and work stations, or bells. I meticulously built a village in creative with my first bed, workstation, and bell at the very center of where I wished for golems to spawn in a 16x6x16. After which I placed each villager individually with their own bed, workstation in their own "room" where they could sleep and work. 20 villagers, 20 beds, and work stations. I waited for each to link to their specific bed and station before adding another. Yet I still had problems with them unlinking and shifting village center. The bell in bedrock is worthless, and once one villager becomes unlinked it is a cascade of problems that can only be temporarily resolved by removing all villagers and villager tech and starting from scratch. Java, you can break bell and replace to recenter village. Why not in bedrock?Β It will not reliably change the village center and It seems as though the new center is chosen at random in relation to the beds.Β I can reliably build iron farms in Java, and used to be able to in bedrock.Β please provide in 1.17 or sooner a fix to the bell/bed issue. I searched the reports for about 15 minutes to see if there is another report but I did not find this specific issue listed, yet I have seen many youtubers face this same problem.Β

Ok, first my problem is with the function of the bell primarily. Which isn't mentioned in the "duplicate" you sent me. Secondly, save looking at the source code I can assure you I understand the iron farm mechanics and have built dozens in the past.Β Both on java and bedrock. I have viewed tutorials for the correct version.Β You can duplicate this by placing a bell center, and lining the bell with villager 9 blocks away with their own beds and work stations and watch them link and unlink. Then break bell and try to recenter. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.Β If the bell isn't going to be reliable please remove it, or it's variable functionality. I can't even use it as a decoration around my villages without messing up my villages.
The duplicate link to MCPE-50441 is correct because part of the issue reported here is that the villagers are linking to beds and workstations in places they cannot reach. However, the issue with bells destablizing iron farms is covered by MCPE-54183 so I have added that as an additional duplicate link.
Bells define a village meeting point, so villagers will try to pathfind to them in the afternoon. Whenever 3 successive pathfinding attempts to a POI fail, the village breaks links to the POI. Whenever village POI links change, the village center can shift.
Since my update to 1.17 things seem to be better. Not great but better with my iron farms. I still think the bell has a terrible design. I don't know if there has been any fixes to them. I haven't used once since this report. I just avoid them. I had golems spawning on half slabs in my last farm I just built in 1.17 and had to float the half slabs with air under them to keep the golems from spawning on them. I know everyone will say it's impossible for golems to spawn on bottom halfΒ slabs, but were for me. The villagers do seem to be staying linked much better. Thanks.
