I have two monitors. One is an ultrawide screen (3440x1440) and the other is a wide screen in portrait orientation (1200x1920).
My main display is the ultrawide, so this is, by default, what most programs open up on. This includes Minecraft.
When opening Minecraft via the Oculus Library from inside my Rift S, the fact that Minecraft adopts the ultrawide window size results in menus being horribly squashed.
In MenuSquish-01.jpg I have Minecraft connected to my Rift S with Minecraft taking up the full ultrawide display (though the sides are black) and Oculus Mirror to the side, showing what I see (narrow menu).
[media]In MenuSquish-02.jpg, I've taken the headset off, which temporarily causes Minecraft to revert to a more normal view and Oculus Mirror to go dark. This step is necessary to implement a workaround. (I've also expanded Oculus Mirror to the full portrait display, but this is immaterial)
[media]In MenuSquish-03.jpg, I've resized Minecraft to a widescreen (16:10) aspect ratio on part of my ultrawide monitor.
[media]In MenuSquish-04.jpg, I've put the headset back on, and you can see that the menu is no longer squished (or not as badly). It seems necessary to remove the headset while changing the Minecraft window size, as attempting to do so while the headset was active resulted in Minecraft closing.
[media]In MenuSquish-05.jpg, I've moved Occulus Mirror to the ultrawide display and moved Minecraft to the bottom of the portrait display (still in a 16:10 ratio). After putting the headset back on again, Oculus Mirror shows the menu still looks okay.
[media]In MenuSquish-06.jpg, the headset is removed and I've resized Minecraft's window to the full portrait display.
[media]In MenuSquish-07.jpg, with the headset back on, the menu is squished, this time in another direction.
[media]In MenuSquish-08.jpg, the profile/avatar editor has been opened, which revealed something interesting; it appears that this menu's shape is not distorted so much as its contents are.
[media]In MenuSquish-09.jpg and In MenuSquish-10.jpg, we can see that the menus are still affected once a world is loaded.
[media][media]You can see in all of these images that blocks are unaffected. I'm not sure if other parts of the game are affected.
It's not a difficult workaround to adjust Minecraft's window ratio, but this certainly doesn't seem to work as intended.
NOTE: This is the first I've attempted to play Minecraft since December of 2020, as I can't really enjoy the game until all the issues with VR from 1.16.200 are resolved.
