When I swim in lava and flowing lava, I jutter and cannot get out unless I hold up and spam click blocks. By then I'm dead.

However, this issue has been closed as Working as Intended.
Other than dealing damage upon contact, lava behaves the same way water does - including the current pushing you away if you try to swim against it.
