A few seconds after the parrot enters the nether, without any fire around, it begins to burn and dies. Tested at Y = 110, far from any lava or any hostile mobs.
The jungle is 16 000 blocks away from my base, does this mean I have to travel via the overworld to spare the birds' lives?
