I was playing on a creative world, building a house design for my survival server. I decided to use the new azalea leaves to add some detail to my build and while building with them I tried to pick-block an azalea leaves block and ended up getting an azalea bush. I thought it might have been a fluke but after doing it time and time again I got the same results.

When pick-blocking azalea leaves/flowered azalea leaves instead of giving you azalea leaves, the game gives you an azalea bush/flowering azalea bush.
