I'm having performance issue on a brand new Ipad 8th Generation, if I load the default 20 chunks it will drop frames, even on lower chunk settings like 12 or 8 it will drop frames. If I am hosting a server and open chat and use the command slash, it will freeze for a solid 5 seconds before loading. I expected better performance on the latest iPad with the A12 chip in it. My iPad 6th Generation had no lag at all. Hopefully this is just an optimization issue and not hardware. I've watched other people on YouTube with the same iPad and noticed they had some performance drops as well.
