one of my freinds thew a ender pearl through the end gateway and it spawned a endermite in. when i came back from raiding a end city, the gateway spawned me on the edge of the platform on a endermite, which knocked me into the void and i lost all my loot

Whenever you use an Ender Pearl there is a chance for an Endermite to spawn at the place where the pearl was thrown from. It's generally a good idea to build a platform under the end city gateway to reduce the chance of falling off.
