When we are playing with my friends in our realm it happens that out of nowhere their skins disappear and are changed by default (steve), so I no longer see them with their skins but as Steve and them the same thing happens to them They look at us like Steve when we still have our skin on. It is a curious problem because to "solve it" you have to leave and enter again but after a while the problem returns
