Massive memory leak/world corruption

I've had this world for a while, and it's been ~9mb before the recent update. Decided I would like to expand it by building in untouched chunks, I notice that blocks are lagging behind my inputs (you can see them being placed but the sound effects don't follow through until later) same goes for breaking them. This always happened during auto-saves so I try re-entering the world, but the file size has somehow shot up to 200mb? A copy of the world only made things worse and actually made my ssd run out of storage completely. In task manager minecraft is taking ~90% of available ram and its probably being written to disk causing my SSD to fill up since file explorer shows no major change in world file size. I had an older backup of the same world (still 9mb) and the moment i placed blocks in those same chunks the file size started to shoot up. I have no other idea what could be causing this issue
