Corrupted chunks or Crashing Chunks

When entering a previous update world, like 0.14.3, chunks that have been saved in the previous update either corrupts or has a memory leak which will crash if you enter the previously updated chunk.

Ex. I was out travelling the world during update 0.14.3 but updated the world to 0.15.0. After updating the app i continued travelling with no problems at all. But when i entered chunks that have been pre loaded from 0.14.3 the game just exits to my apps screen. I continuously enter the app and try to enter the same chunks but will crash every time. I cannot enter my house or get anywhere close to it.

It happened to me too.
Everytime I entered a specific chunk (my house), my game just crashes.
I sometimes manage to enter the chunk without crashing. However, I can't move around too much or even turning to face another direction, otherwise, it'll crash again.

My world is a superflat world. Nothing is wrong with the other chunks in the world. It only happens in my one specific pre-loaded (before 0.15.0) world.

Oh so it's not just me. I thought my world just got curropted. But all I know I better be able to enter that world by the end of this beta or im going to be royally pissed off. I've worked so much on that world. I just got done working on a huge barn and now it wants to currupt.

Me too

Now whenever it "crashes" on you does it just go to your phone screen, where you see all your apps, or does it say "oops Minecraft pocket edition isnt responding" (with two options to wait or close)? Bc when mine crashes it just goes to the phone app screen.

Austin

Hmm. It doesn't do that with me, reply to screenshot, it just exits to phone screen. Testing out the final version now.

Yes. I can still reproduce this issue. It happens on 0.15.0 to the current update which is 0.15.4.

My phone is currently updated to 0.15.4, I can get into the world but as soon as i turn 180° it crashes.

I also transfered it to the Windows 10 Edition and the game just freezes and then exits afterwords.

The Windows 10 Edition on my laptop is currently updated to 0.15.3.

The ONLY way to fix it atm is by using mcpe master app. But I do not want to use that app 24/7.

Able to replicate on Moto E (2nd Gen) Android 5.1, MCPE 0.15.4

Crashed in the nether consistently on the same chunk. (part of a Nether fortress)

Previously had entire chunks in the over world regenerate back to original state, really annoying. Currently having issue in the nether, tried to restart phone, tried to restart Minecraft, tried to go really far away in the nether to unload the chunks, nothing helped.

UPDATE:

  • able to replicate on 15.6 (Same nether chunks/area from previous comment).

  • Discovered that if I walk backward through the chunks, (i.e. face opposite direction of travel using down arrow), for some reason, the chunk doesn't crash. I can walk through many chunks, but as soon as I turn approximately 45+ degrees left or right the game crashes.

  • In the area is a blaze spawner which i've converted into a mob farm. I am able to get a few blazes to spawn each time I log into the game. (They shouldn't be spawning based on the current state of lighting around the spawner).

  • If I walk backward through the fortress and get to my mob farms collection point, I can kill the blazes normally. The game appears to behave normally up until I turn 45+ degrees in either direction.

  • no reporting option is provided, just crashes to phones home screen.

  • If development wants a copy of my game files please let me know and I'd be more than happy to provide.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem Michael is. In my case, this area is my home area without a mob spawner (so that probably isn't the problem).
I was surprised to notice that Michael is right about the direction I look making a difference. I noticed I can do anything i want in the corrupted area when I face the ground. As soon as i look up facing the wrong direction, the game crashes.

I'm having a similar problem, except that my problem doesn't seem to be caused by an update. I played a world I've had since 0.12 and it's worked fine. I played it on Wednesday. (Yes, 3 days before making this comment.) But since yesterday (on the day of the comment, it was yesterday) it's been crashing consistently on the same blocks when I go in any direction regardless of y-axis position (leading me to believe that's chunk boundaries). It doesn't crash on a world I made in 0.15.x or 0.14.x, though. I'm running on iOS 10.0.2 on an iPhone 6 with MCPE 0.15.10.
