Your player can sometimes walk/sprint forward even though you pressed the key that was meant for walking backwards (s). This might cause some of your mental stability out there exploring the nether/hunting for an elytra in the end islands, this is not from experience but just seeing this happen on a small hill of my base has triggered my instinct to report this because as mentioned on the top this will kill someone's progress of their world
