Iron Golems instantly chasing me when they spawn

Iron Golems instantly go aggressive on me as soon as they spawn.

In a multiplayer world that was started in 1.18.0 but currently played in 1.18.2.
I have about 15-20 villagers and 20-25 beds, roughly half the villagers have jobs and there is a bell. Iron golems would spawn above the villagers and i would kill them to get them out of the way. After a while the iron golems would instantly try kill me as soon as they spawn even though there was no other iron golems anywhere

I don't know how to reproduce but now i can't go on one of my favourite worlds with my friends because i will die to golems.

Don't kill the Iron Golems.
If you kill the naturally-spawned Iron Golems in a village, this will reduce your "Popularity" in that village. When your Popularity becomes too low, naturally-spawned Iron Golems in that village will attack you. For an unofficial guide that might be helpful, see the Minecraft Wiki.

Something you might try would be to "trap" the Iron Golems so they can't hit you and then stay in the village, and/or trade with the villagers to level them up. Over time, this should increase your Popularity. In a multiplayer world, you could have a different player trap the Golems for you as they should be able to do so safely.

Are you able to enter a different village safely?

Thank you for this information. I did not realize that this was a feature. I can safely go to other villages and I have increased my popularity so they don't kill me anymore.
