if your device has the front camera in that area, this is not a bug. It's intended. However, if you really want it to go to the edge, you can force MC to do this:
Open Settings > Display > Full screen Apps > Camera Cutout
Find MC in that list and select "Hide Camera Cutout"
Open MC. The cutout should be gone.
