"Choose New Skin" button is not functional on Nintendo Switch, can't import custom skins

Yes but way differently when I press import skins my screen turns gray I can still see the menu I press it again still no luck

This exact same thing happens with me. When I press the “Choose New Skin” button the menu turns gray, I can exit the skins menu but it doesn’t shown anything else, such as a way to actually import a skin.

I've been having this problem too, but on an Android tablet. (Alcatel 3T 9027W, Android Oreo 8.1.0, Minecraft version 1.18.32.02)
When tapping the "CHOOSE NEW SKIN" button, a grey overlay is displayed. I would expect the file selector interface (DocumentsUI) to open then, but instead it does not, and the grey overlay remains throughout the entirety of the skin selection menu. The menu can still be interacted with normally. The grey overlay doesn't show on the title screen, but will show up again when going back to the skins menu. Closing and reopening the app is required to get rid of the grey overlay.

I have been having this exact issue as well and this issue still occurs after 1.19 update. Have tried fresh install with same results.

Not OP but same problem and no, MCPE-152259 is not the same issue . That issue describes the file chooser starting successfully. This issue does not. Gray overlay but no file chooser appars. Permission dialog shows successfully if you have not already granted perminssion, but nothing happens after granting.

Issue experienced at 07:10 CET 13th nov 2022 (and everytime I try).

System:

Minecraft v1.19.41

Android GalaxyTab 3 on Android 12.
