/kill @e creates huge lag by making characters twice the height

I recently upgraded from a 2018 iPad Pro, to a new one with the M1 Apple chip. I noticed that /kill @e in chat makes a huge lag when I first played Minecraft on it, bringing it from about 60 FPS down to about 10. The characters are about 2x the height, and this apparently kills fps. Command blocks don’t do this type of thing. This needs to be fixed.

How to reproduce:

1: set up an always active repeating command block with β€˜summon tnt’ put into it

2: type /kill @e in chat, not command block

3: see how heightened the characters are and how much lag
