Skylight underground after updating/breaking light producing blocks

Sometimes: when broken, the torch disappears but the light source stays. However, the light level is lowers. When a torch is placed back on the same spot, the glitch will always happen after breaking the torch again. If a block is placed or the block next to it is destroyed, the light goes away.
This is was recreated several times, even after exiting the game and coming back.

Hi there!
Could you attach your world to this ticket, so we could have a closer look on that?

This ticket will automatically reopen when your reply.

AFTER TESTING: OUTDATED INFO

To recreate the glitch:

  • Have an end gateway

  • Cover it up in a box of blocks

  • Place a light source (not a full block) outside

  • Remove the wall so that the gateway is possible to see

  • Break the light source

  • It should have done the glitch

*note: you can switch the "breaking the light source" step and the "placing the light source" and it will work too.

What should the title be changed to now?

Does this only happen in multiplayer/realms?

I was playing in a singleplayer world.

Is this still an issue in the latest version?

Still an issue. What happens is that when you break a torch underground the game updates the light based on the current skylight level as if it were on the surface. See MCPE-155808 for steps to reproduce.

Probably right,

I recommend choosing the other one as the unresolved one and mine as a duplicate
