Minecraft disconnects from server after tabbing out

Minecraft Bedrock disconnects me from any server after I tab out of the game. Doesn't matter whether I do it for 5 minutes or 1 second, still disconnects me. Same thing happens with Xbox Live when I'm playing singleplayer (an error message appears on the pause screen saying "can't connect to Xbox Live, please re-enter world"). Seems like it terminates the connection once the game isn't focused on.

(I hope this wasn't already reported, I searched about this problem here but couldn't find anything)
