Hey i don't know if this is a bug or a performence thing, but Water And Lava when mass placed, and removed take forever to then despawn... due to the flowing water and lava keeps not updating as fast? Randomtickspeed doesn't do much... Basically to get an example of this... fill a 15 15 15 by 15 15 15 block of lava in a big open floating area... Now try to remove said block by replacing lava with air. Go away from the area... do some stuff whatever, then come back...
The lava/water will still be going away... slowly.. and will start to fall and keep flowing downward... (the source blocks get deleted, but not the flowing object as well, well not as fast... standing in the chunk for the flowing liquid to run all the way down and despawn, serisouly lags the game.[randomtickspeed does nothing as well, except to increase the lag of the game if increased.]) using the replace command for flowing_lava/water instead of lava/water helps with getting rid of it. but this then leaves floating half blocks of lava/water in mid air not despawning what so ever.
My suggestion is have lava/water despawn quicker... but idk if this is even possible... (this would make it faster to clean up messes for servers and griefer issues) (and not have to use commands to cause half floating blocks everywhere...)
Honestly idk if this is a suggestion/performence issue/ or plain bug. But whatever the case, it lags servers and realms and single player worlds ALOT... especially when griefers flood the map with lava.... then the people who gota clean up the mess lag forever since it all despawns very slowly.
This mostly effects creative alot... but mass removing water with sponges also is an issue in single player...
This has effected every version... and was tested on the 1.19 update recently to.

what about the floating blocks while being removed when clearing? im getting like half liquid blocks and slices of liquid? fill command doesnt work on these as intended, they don't exist basically? [i have been able to load the world in amulet app/mceditor for instance and delete the spot but ingame nothing works for it] (im talking about local filling, filling the area around the player) Also thanks for clearing it up... for the despawning behavior.

This is likely Works As Intended. Also: blocks don’t “despawn”, and what’s happening is normal liquid flow behavior. Once it’s water source is removed, the top of a single-wide column of water flows downwards at the same rate as its bottom originally flowed down. However, as you know, water (or lava) can spread horizontally; this applies to wider columns of water. After the sources are removed from a two-wide column, they still sort of flow into each other, making them take noticeably longer to disappear. I am sorry that this makes cleaning up after griefers difficult, but this is standard behavior.
