Plugging in a controller and a mouse is precarious on Windows

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Assuming you are already in a world, plug in your mouse, keyboard, and controller into the computer.
2. Press any button on the controller so the game knows you are playing on controller.
3. Move your mouse so the game knows you have a keyboard and mouse plugged in.
4. Press any button on the controller.
5. Unplug the controller.
6. Plug the controller in.

Observed Results:
The controller is now unresponsive and you have to restart the game to play on controller again.

Expected Results:
You can continue play Minecraft with a controller.
