Flowing lava doesn't turn to cobblestone upon contacting water

I was trying to make a cobblestone pillar all the way down to Y=0 in the End. So I first place a lava source block and allow the lava to flow all the way down, then place a water source block adjacent to it. But only the first flowing lava becomes cobblestone, the rest flowing lava just disappearย

What are you expecting to happen instead?
Once the first flowing lava is turned to cobblestone, that will block the downward flow.
Or have you left out some steps / observations? There does not appear to be any cobblestone in the picture, and the flowing lava seems to still be there.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Enter the end

  2. Place a lava source block at any point on the edge of the main island

  3. Wait until the final flowing lava reaches y=0

  4. Put a water source block adjacent to the lava source block

Observed Results: Lava source block turns into obsidian, the first flowing lava block turns to obsidian, other flowing lava blocks remain unchanged and soon flow into the void and disappear

Expected Results:ย All flowing lava blocks should turn to cobblestone, just like when the above procedure is performed in Java Edition
