So I was standing still for a moment and all of a sudden I died. When I died my screen glitched and the chunks wouldn't load so it was part light blue. I respawned in my bed but lost all of my items. There are no mobs, peaceful. I lost the 12 diamonds that I had just found. Could there be a reason for which I died?

TropicJulie tried to swim in lava. That was the message that showed up even tho i was standing still in water.
Hi, assuming from your description, you were back from mining diamonds. Did you go up from mining area to the 'normal world' or you were staying still deep down in e.g cave? If you still were in a mining cave, could there be any source of lava that spawned there naturally that could kill you?

Hey. So I was in the deeper area of the cave and I was climbing back up with a water bucket. I stopped and stood still on a block and all of a sudden I died. I don't think it was a natural lava source that spawned because I would have seen that I'm taking damage (I was in the water) but it all happened in a blink of an eye. I was also on my way back to a different part of the cave I was in. I was also with my friend. It was in her realm, we were both on a mining trip. There was also another person in the realm at the time but no one could have killed me since cheats were off and we were trying to get achievements. I have also confirmed with them and none of them killed me.
Was there any lava at the bottom of the cave where you started to climb?
Did you happen to look for your items at the bottom also? If you have not already been back to that area you could still look, but otherwise they have probably despawned if they were there.
Yes, there was lava but it was far off to the left I also blocked it off with some cobblestone so there wasn't any possible way for me to fall in there. My friend was with me. When I respawned back in my house my friend said that she only got some of my stuff and the rest had gone missing. Apparently, the items fell into the lava. I went back to the cave later to check if I could have possibly fallen into the lava but no. I couldn't have in any way.
