Obsidian not created in certain cases

For some reason obsidian is not created when a water bucket is placed on a lava source block or vise versa and what does happen is the lava disappears and the water source block is where the lava source block was I am pretty sure obsidian should be there please fix this soon.

Are you letting the water flow over the lava or placing it directly into the lava?
Try pouring the water onto an adjacent (non-lava) block and let it flow over the lava to see if that works for you?
If not, please attach a video or screenshots showing the issue.
