Place a Dispenser
Put Snowballs inside the Dispenser
Place a Button/Lever next to the Dispenser
Use Button/Lever to Dispense the Snowballs

Same for eggs. I have an automatic chicken farm with a dispenser throwing eggs. In 15.10, the eggs reached the gap 3 blocks away from the dispenser, now they hit another block only 2 block away from the dispenser.
