When going though nether portals suffocation damage is taken

When players in a realm I play on go through specific nether portals from the overworld into the nether, we take suffocation damage and sometimes even die. When we go through the portal, on the loading screen we can hear our players taking damage and when we come though the suffocation bubbles are visible at the top of the screen, and we have taken damage. This happens every time we go through this portal in this update. If we are not wearing armor or are already at low health, it can cause us to die of suffocation. I was not able to reproduce this on a separate world. However, it happens every time on the previously mentioned realm. Attached is a video recording of the glitch taking place. Please notice the suffocation sounds as I come though the portal, and how I have less health and suffocation bubbles on the top of my screen.
