Uploading packs to realms greatly increases its file size

After uploading a resource pack, but most often when the process is cut off, the file size of a mod greatly increases. One of the packs I tried to upload increased from 170 mb to 2.4 gb. When I checked to see what was taking up all the storage I couldn’t find anything. I added up all of the mb inside the mod and it only became the original 170 mb. Even after deleting all files inside the folder it still contains 2.3 gb. This has been happening for a while now.
