Unable to give simple items like birch wood with /give

When I say /give on cheat mode in pe you can not give your self simple things like wooden planks or logs. Also no spawn eggs just a 'spawn' egg which doesn't spawn anything.
As you can see in the pictures you are able to get different wooden items but not wood planks or logs.
You can also see you can only get a spawn egg with nothing in it.
