"Unable to connect to the world" on singleplayer even with working internet

Upon attempting to join any world or generating a new world, the game gets stuck looping trough tips without progressing any further. It eventually times out stating the following.

"Unable to connect to the world. Please check your connection to the internet and try again."

I am indeed connected to the internet without any issues. The game was able to load my user profile (including skins, owned marketplace content etc.) but is unable to join a local world. It currently affects all my devices and I therefore cannot play this edition of the game.

I tried everything I could think of. Clearing cache, resetting the game, reinstalling the game, even restarting my tablet, and had the exact same behaviour occur on a clean installation of the game. At this point I am desperate.

Android Devices:

  • Realme 8 running Android 13.

  • Lenovo TBX-606 running Android 10, this is the device I tried doing a clean install of the affected version.

All Android devices were connected using private Wifi.

PC:

  • Motherboard: Phantom Z590

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-10600KF @4.1GHz

  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 570

  • Internet connection via on-board ethernet adapter.

  • OS: Windows 11 Professional 23H2 (build 10.0.22631.3296)

All connections were done from the same home network in Prague, Czechia. I had no issues using other online services, including Microsoft Store, the Xbox app or Microsoft account settings.

I did notice there was an update to the Xbox app and the related services, but no dice. The issue still persists.

Can you try changing your player skin to one of the default skins and see if that allows you to join worlds?
