The fully zoomed out map shows crimsom color and not the actual terrain. I have a second map (zoom 1/4) of exactly the terrain that is not shown correctly

It looks like you have a red-ish block at the corners on a regular grid pattern. The zoomed out maps will show a color based on blocks at regular intervals depending on the zoom level. So it's possible that the red in the map is because of the pattern. Try switching out some of the blocks to see what happens on the map.
