When gravel falls on torch it disappears

When I piller up gravel and when I break the first block and fast put a torch under it, the gravel falls but it wont give the blocks (the blocks disappear).

*What I expected to happen was that the pile of gravel should fall on the torch and it would give the blocks.
what I thought it should happen was that the pile of gravel should fall on the torch and break and give the blocks

*What actually happened was that the pile of gravel fell on the torch but the blocks just disappeared.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Pile up gravel on top of each other (at least 64)
2. And then break the first gravel block
3. Then place a torch very fast under it (use Split touch control because its easier)
4. Then the gravel will fall on the torch but it wont give the blocks
