I just found out about this (idk how long this bug has been in the game since I don't play Bedrock that often) when I went to go dig down, and placed a torch on the wall next to me and it just disappeared. Didn't reappear in my inventory, didn't drop, didn't even keep lighting, it just vanished.

Bug still exists on v1.21.94. Applies to both torches and lanterns alike. The item just gets deleted by the game.
