When using a channeling trident with loyalty 3 and mending during a thunderstorm lighting will strike mobs but will not strike lightning rods. The sound of impact is made, no lightning sound or vfx then the trident returns. Also lightning will strike wood wool, or any combustible block within the lightning rods range of affect without the rod attracting lightning as its supposed to. Trident does a I said work on mobs correctly. But might be more of a lightning rod issue than trident.
EDIT: More updates information. The problem is not with the trident as I suggested originally. I've sat through multiple thunderstorms and watched lightning strike all around and never hot the lightning rod even once. Channeling trident just bounces off, but works on mobs so with what I've seen the lightning rods aren't working. I've updated the title to reflect that
