Writing in to report a long-going issue on featured servers, specifically the Hive, where custom sounds seem to sometimes randomly cut-out across different gamemodes. It started after 1.20.0, and has been most noticeable for me on their Murder Mystery gamemode. The issue isn’t insanely consistent but is definitely noticeable after an hour or two of gameplay, and is completely randomized in when it happens. I’ve had it happen within 10 minutes of gameplay sometimes, and within an hour of gameplay other times. The timing is completely random. It was being tracked in a large thread on their public forums for around a year before being marked closed as their community manager determined it to be a bug with the Minecraft client itself “likely related to memory”.
This issue is present across all platform and happens with all sorts of custom sounds. On murder mystery specifically, it happens with sounds like roles being assigned to you (sheriff, murder, innocent), the countdown timer 3 seconds before roles are assigned to everyone/the match starts, shooting the bow (even if you aren’t shooting a player), and murders killing you. It’s the most common with the Game Over screen. It also seems to happen in wave reactions. For example, if the coin pickup sound doesn’t play when you pickup a coin, there’s an extremely high chance that once that match ends you also won’t hear the Game Over screen sound play, or possibly a vending machine sound won’t play as you click on it in that exact same match that the coin pickup sound didn’t play for you. It seems to be a chain reaction type thing and several sounds in a row end up not playing. The issue is NOT exclusive to their murder mystery mode, and I have additionally experienced it on their bedwars, hide & seek, and skywars modes. With player hit sounds specifically occasionally cutting out on bedwars and skywars.
To reproduce this issue:
1. Log into the Hive and play their Murder Mystery gamemode
2. Vote “castle town”, “office”, and “toy house” when you can, as these are the maps I’ve noticed the issue is most prevalent on.
3. Play for at least an hour or two
Observed Results: You will notice a certain custom sound will cut-out/not play, and then other custom sounds begin to cut-out/not play afterwards
Expected Results: All sounds should be playing at all times

This bug is highly likely related to memory, as the Hive’s community manager has stated, and is possibly related to custom entities/modes, more-specifically, when a large amount of custom entities/models collide with a large amount of players at once. The game’s engine/memory may become overloaded and not know to respond, so as a result, custom sounds begin to cut-out in a chain-reaction esque effect.

This report is valid. The Hive’s community manager has confirmed that their developers determined the bug to be within the Minecraft client itself, and as I’ve stated, the bug started after 1.20.0. I’ve also gotten varying reports of the issue being present across multiplayer realms where a large amount of players are present with custom entities/models and would appreciate if this report could be re-opened. Thank you
The "Hive community manager" should report the issue directly if they haven't already.
If you can reproduce this on Realms, please provide all information necessary to do so, including any add-ons being used.
Note that if the add-on is from the marketplace or another third party, the add-on creator will need to make the report.

Not sure why you’re quoting Hive community manager when there’s a literal screenshot under my ticket with the label “Hive community manager” right underneath the username Splodg3r, and a comment directly from that user stating that their developers have determined the bug to be within the Minecraft client, on a public forum of theirs that you can literally view yourself, but each to their own I guess? And why would he report the issue directly to Mojang? He is the community manager, he doesn’t manage server development and I’m almost positive a sound related bug that isn’t in anyway game-breaking isn’t something their developers are necessarily gonna be leaping in priority to report to Mojang when they have a variety of other server related bugs they have to work through that can be a bit more problematic on the player experience on their server. The entire goal of my report was to bring the issue to Mojang’s attention as it’s already been confirmed CLIENT SIDED, not server sided, started directly after a game update, and has been confirmed out of the server developers’ controls. I will see if I can somehow reproduce the issue in a multiplayer realm and comment back here with reproduction steps if successful. Thanks
