I physically could not get it to work without me having to restart my game, even then it was hard enough just TRYING to restart Minecraft.

Are you using a vanilla minecraft bedrock client? Lots of stuff in that screenshot leads me to believe you are not.
You should update to the most recent version v1.21.51 and see if that resolves it.
