Items stay on cursor when right-click is held down in crafting grid

(Some versions in the list of versions are not included)

When right-click is held down in the crafting grid (inventory or table), even when the stack is empty (i.e. all items in the stack have been placed in the crafting table), the texture for the item remains hovering at the cursor. It displays just the enlarged item, as it would do if there was just one left in the stack. However, when right-click is let go, the "ghost" item disappears.

What I expect to see:

When all items in the stack have been placed in the grid, there is no item following the cursor.

What I see:

When all items in the stack have been placed in the grid, a "ghost" item follows my cursor and disappears when right-click is let go.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Obtain any number of an item.

  2. Use right-click to drag them into the crafting grid until the stack is empty.

  3. Keep holding right-click and move your cursor away from the grid.

I thought it was normal, this has been here for years as well btw

@Lolo1010hp I know, but I couldn't find all the versions it was on...

Also it might not be normal, it just doesn't seem right to me.
