Item(s) in inventory slot are stuck in that slot

I cannot move, add to, divide, or drop any of the items from a slot in my inventory. It was fixed when logging off and then back in, but still annoying. I could not fix it without leaving the world. It happened not only with redstone, but at least one or two different items as well, such as I think lapis lazuli.
