Items lost when dying from the wither effect in an end gateway

After obtaining the wither effect, I went to enter the end gateway to the over world because I knew that I would die to it. I died in the end gateway right before I loaded into the overworld and my items weren’t at my spawn point, at world spawn, or in the end. I know I went to collect them before they despawned.
