[MCPE-19380] "fishing" hopper does not work.

I have the setup with the following cross-section:
B _
BCHWWW
where,
W = Water
H = Hopper pointing to the chest
C = chest
B = Any block
_ = Carpet

This setup allowed me to collect fishing rewards in the chest without having to move them there myself, by me standing on the top most block, the caught item/fish would get collected by the hopper and sent to the chest.

Since 1.0.0 update, this simple setup doesn't work. The hopper no longer captures the rewards of fishing, which end up in my inventory.

Let me know if this doesn't explain the setup correctly, I forgot to take a screenshot, but I can do that later is needed.

Here is a screenshot of the setup mentioned above. This used to work (caught fish/items getting collected in the chest instead of ending up in the inventory) before 1.0.0.

Can you explain the expected behavior? There are numerous variants of this setup for the MCPC, I'm not sure how the MCPE version is intended to be different from that. It would help if the intended difference is stated here.

Looks like it works without the platform. I guess the arc of fish flight has changed between versions.
