Prior to the Spring Update, I had a realm world that had a LOT of add-ons and it worked fine and was playable. It crashed so much on the realm, I couldn’t play it and didn’t have a back-up and am trying to remake it. Now when I use more than roughly 9 add-on’s the game crashes on Windows. I was able to get it to work once on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S24) and upload it to a realm and can join it fine. Try to join it on my PC and it is a hard crash each time. Tried to remake the world locally on my PC version with various add-ons and above about 9 add-on’s the game hard crashes on the PC. The combination of add-ons do not seem to matter. Went through one by one trying to find out if one was causing the issue and didn’t find one that did it.
Again, this worked prior to this update. Here’s a list of example an add-on’s load out I’ve used before:

It’s a LOT, but it worked fine prior to this update on the PC. Other than Actions & Stuff crashing the XBOX on load (I guess that’s some bug with add-on upload sizes that Microsoft has to patch?), it worked without Actions & Stuff on the XBOX Series X, my PC, a friend’s Windows 10 PC, and my phone. Now trying to re-make the same world just crashes each time on the PC. Or making it on my phone (which does work) and putting it on the realm, the PC version crashes when trying to join that realm.
Please see the attached video of me trying to make worlds in various ways and all the crashes. This is after uninstalling the game and deleting the entire Minecraft folder from %appdata% and reinstalling it and updating it.
My PC Specs:
Windows 11 Professional OS Build: 26100.3476 / Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.54.0
CPU:
3.20 gigahertz AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics
RAM:
32 Gigabytes Usable Installed Memory (16x2)
GPU:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU

Here is a clean copy of the content log file from trying today … note at 08:39:01 is where it crashed halfway through that recipes warning.
[media]Confirmed that I can join the realm with all those add-ons on my XBOX Series X.
✅ - Android on Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
✅ - Xbox Series X
❌ - any PC tried crashes
Not using Actions & Stuff though. I would love to, but that crashes any realm world with it loaded on it when joining on the XBOX, but I think that’s a known bug already.
Used the Windows Settings app control to “reset” the app.
Then uninstalled it.
Then searched for
*minecraft*
in %AppData% and deleted every file and folder it would allow.
Reinstalled Minecraft via the Windows Store and signed back in.
Tried to join my realm and got two options to download add-ons of different file sizes. I’ve never see two like this before.
Picked the biggest one of the two to launch it.
Waited and it crashed.
Just tried to build the same world locally on my XBOX Series X and it crashed the game back out to the dashboard.
Upon joining, it asks me to “Download Everything & Join” but gives two options of different sizes:
[media]Tried to join the Realm Server that I made fine on my phone and can play on my phone and …
[media]Hit “OK” and it drops back out to:
[media]This is EXACTLY what happens if any realm server with Actions & Stuff on it with the Xbox. However, Actions & Stuff is NOT on that server.
So, now I am left with it only working on my phone. Sheesh.
✅ - Android on Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
❌ - Xbox Series X
❌ - any PC tried crashes
Ok. It still works on my Xbox and PC. My friend’s XBOX it crashes.
I think I know what’s up. I think it’s the overall download size being too much. I am going to test this by creating a world in Realm Slot 1 that has 10 add-on’s from my list on it. Then duplicate it to Slot 2 and put 10-15 more on it, then the third slot will be a duplicate of the second but with all of the add-on’s on my list.
Join the first slot and let it download them. Then quit out. Enable the second slot and join that and if that works quit out. Then enable the third slot and join it and see if it finally gets the FULL list of add-ons and then just play on that third slot.
Off to test out this theory…
My XBOX on the working realm world with ALL the add-on's on my list.
My XBOX version is 1.21.71, my friend's is also 1.21.71.
Reserved space is 469.5 MB. Profile space is 457.3 MB.
Deleted My Profile storage first and opened the game up new.
Started the game up and it auto-loaded my profile.
Attempted to join the realm (this one is the one without all the add-ons at 371.7MB download).
It worked and loaded fine without asking me to download anything, this means 100% of all the add-on data it checks for realms lives in that "Reserved Space" portion. The local add-on content must live in that profile memory space.
Went to the Home screen and menu/quit Minecraft.
Went to manage the game and deleted the "Reserved Space" (still at 469.5 MB
Launched the game. This was first run setup (narrator and safe screen area setup).
Joined the realm (this slot is the one with most, not all of my add-on's with a download size of 371.5 MB)
Got the prompt this time to download the add-on's and selected to do that.
Hard Crash pink/black checks and dumped back to Home screen.
Cleared the Reserved and Profile Space both. Reserved space was 469.5 MB. Profile space was 457.3 MB.
Launched Minecraft.
Went through the first run stuff.
Created a new world.
Set coordinates and cheats on.
Set global add-ons option on.
Downloaded and added:
Tinker's Construct
Waypoints
Villagers++
World Builder 1.5
Towers & Dungeons
Pro Builder
Plenty of Blocks 1.3
TRAINS
Naturalist Add-on 3.0
More Blocks <-- noticing definite interface lag at this point
Mob Heads
Furniture Life Add-on
Crops & Farms 1.2Stopped adding add-ons here and hit Create to make it locally on the Xbox.
Game loaded fine.
Saved and quit.
Backed out to the Home Screen.
Menu/Quit the game.
Checked saved data space: Profile is 459.5 MB, Reserved space is 342.0 MB (installed on storage expansion card)Started the game again.
Selected to join the first realm slot that does not have the full load-out of my add-ons (was a 371.5 MB download).
Got the message about seeing content that might not be family friendly, etc. Accepted that.
Download prompt came up at 256.2MB (so it referenced some of the ones previously downloaded for the local world).
Realm world loaded fine (previously crashed).
If I deleted all the profile and reserved space and try to join the realm only download size is 371.5 MB and gives a hard pink/black crash.
Quit the XBOX game.
Deleted both profile and reserved space.
Switched over to the PC.
Created the Realm slot one map.
Added the following add-ons on it:
Tinker's Construct
Waypoints
Villagers++
World Builder 1.5
Towers & Dungeons
Pro Builder
Plenty of Blocks 1.3
TRAINS
Naturalist Add-on 3.0
More Blocks <-- noticing definite interface lag at this point
Mob Heads
Furniture Life Add-on
Crops & Farms 1.2Loaded the realm on the PC: GAME WORKS.
Quit and closed app on PC.
Loaded the realm on my XBOX (after going through initial new start options): Download size: 172.6MB. GAME WORKS.
Quit the game on the XBOX (no storage deletion).
Back to my PC, duplicated the map in Realm Slot 1 from above (locally).
Added the following additional add-ons:
Realistic Biomes Add-on
Magic Spells Add-on
Sparks Portal Add-on
Security Add-on
Realism Effects Add-on
Storage Drawers Add-on
FantasyCraft 1.4 Add-on
Dogs Add-on
Essentials
Gravetones Resources
More Custom Blocks Add-onLoaded the game to Slot 2 on the Realm and activated Slot 2.
Joined the Realm on the PC: GAME WORKS.
Quit Minecraft on the PC.
Loaded the realm on my XBOX): Download size: 316.9MB (144.3 MB larger than Slot 1 load). HARD pink/black crash back to the Home screen. "Error while downloading packs from server. Please try again.
Tried to load again on XBOX. Download size: 316.9MB still. Dirt screen with "Disconnected from Server". OK and then pink/black ui bug and hard crash.
Tried one last time... The UI loaded with the XBOX's mouse icon showing up now, it doesn't work. Menu/Quit the game. Started the game again. Joining the realm (Slot 2 active). Download size: 316.9MB still. HARD CRASH pink/black and back to Home screen.
Ugh. The theory of duplicating the map in each of the realm slots adding more and more add-on's each time failed.
This might not be so bad if all the people that play on my realm were only on the PC. This seems like it’s an add-on/download size issue thing. I first heard about this when someone mentioned that they thought it was the same thing that was bugging another add-on and was a Microsoft Xbox fix and not a Mojang one. But I don’t know.
Anyone have any other ideas?
I’ve loaded my entire list 40+ add-ons and they work now on two very different PC Bedrock versions locally and on the Realm. Xbox is just crashing on even some of them still. Just finally told the people on our realm that play Xbox only that they will have to wait for a fix or get a PC. It’s a crazy shame that the whole ecosystem is Microsoft and it’s like this but what can you do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hello and thank you for your report!
However there is a lot of mixed information that prevents us from easily investigate the bug.
Please update the issue description with information about specifically Windows platform, as other platforms has been mentioned in other issues down below.
There is already a report about world crashing/unable to join due to complexity of add-ons and their amount:
MCPE-180342 and MCPE-188710
Please provide information's about encountered connection issues (e.g. unable to connect or other warnings).
If this started to happen on latest spring update on Windows we will need more specific info about:
Add-ons that cause the crash - specific list if this is related to specific add-ons, if not, total memory these add-ons occupy on the world
Instances (realms, LAN, single-player worlds, joining friends worlds)
Worlds host devices
End connection devices (presumably Windows?)
This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.
Here’s a video of me building the world with all the add-on’s (huge list) on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and putting it on the Realm. Then loading and it is working fine.
[media]The video then switches to my PC moments later where I try to join the same world, and it crashes the PC version of the game.
Here’s a link if the attached video doesn’t work:
