Just updated the game to the Spring to Life update. I went on a ride on my horse. The game began autosaving when I got to my destination, and when I got off of my horse, the game lagged for a moment, and then as I walked away I noticed that my horse was copying my movements as if I was still riding it. Trying to open my inventory caused the horse UI to flash for a brief second before closing again, meaning I couldn’t access my own inventory. Throwing an item on the ground dropped the item at the horse’s location, not the player’s. Crouching--- the normal way of dismounting--- did nothing to stop this weird player-horse quantum entanglement. When I moved forward towards a wall, which walked the horse into the wall so I could get close enough to interact with it (the horse still had collision), its inventory opened instead of mounting it. Removing its saddle from that inventory also seemingly had no effect.
Steps to reproduce:
Mount a horse. I’m unsure if this works on other mountable mobs. Begin running around on your steed.
Wait until the game begins autosaving. This is more noticeable on worlds with larger file sizes, such as 100mb or larger. This bug does not occur if the game is not autosaving; the game seems to be more stable when it isn’t actively saving and will behave normally outside of autosave.
After a few seconds of the game autosaving (again, easier if the world’s file size is larger, so it takes longer for the game to autosave), try to dismount the horse and immediately walk away. There is a chance that the game will get confused and think you are still on the horse. If you have executed the bug correctly, the horse will suddenly disappear from where it was standing a moment ago and teleport to a spot that it was a few seconds ago while you were riding it, likely hovering sightly in the air for some reason.
Try to move around. Notice that as you character moves, the horse will also move as if you were riding it. If you jump, it jumps, if you run forward, it dashes forward, etc. It also always faces away from you (head pointed in the same direction as your character), just like it does when you’re riding it.
Expected result: Your character dismounts the horse as normal, and the horse goes back to moving on its own like a regular mob.
Observed Result: The player and horse, although visually separated, continue to both follow the user’s movement inputs.
The only way I’ve found to fix this is to save and quit, then reopen the world. Upon reloading in you will actually appear mounted on the horse again at the horse’s location, not the location you were last standing. Because of this and the other behavior, I suspect that what is happening is that the game is convinced the player never dismounted the horse, but the player’s POV gets de-synced and acts as if the player has.
had this happen in my multiplayer world to my friend.
on my screen he was seated on the horse and was at the horses position, heres a clip of it from his side as my recording is too laggy, https://youtu.be/SPfFgrE2mBI
