Movie event disconnected from server multiple times. Mining diamonds and other resources lost everything I get disconnected. Cannot complete to get cape

Have played movie event. On the last one 50 diamonds to get cape. Have gotten diamonds, redstone, lapis, gold and keep getting disconnected from server before I can turn it in. Everything it wipes my resources out to 0 and I start over just to be disconnected again! I just tried loading back into the mines and had nothing in my inventory but arrows…no bow, no pickaxe no sword no collectibles, just arrows. When I tried going to level 1, it disconnected me from server Again. With the years and money I've spent plus the movie and McDonald's minecraft meals and now can't get this cape because of some bug. Event is almost over. Now what?
